Germans with ordinary passports can enter visa-free for up to 30 days for specified purposes. The exemption lasts until the end of 2026.

China has extended the exemption for German nationals holding ordinary passports until 31 December 2026. It covers business trips, tourism, visits to family or friends, exchanges and transit for no more than 30 days.
Travellers who do not meet the conditions must obtain the appropriate visa before entry. This includes longer stays and purposes outside the exemption, such as work or study. Other passport types require separate checks.
Check your purpose of travel, passport type and length of stay before booking. The border authority still decides on admission.
