Since 1 September 2026, a QR code has replaced the visa sticker at Cairo Airport. A visa on arrival remains available.

The German Embassy in Cairo describes the change as effective from 1 September 2026. Travellers can apply for the QR code before travelling through visaonarrival.gov.eg. On arrival, it is available at self-service terminals or bank counters before passport control. The change initially applies to Cairo, not all Egyptian airports.
The embassy lists a USD 30 visa fee plus a USD 6 processing fee. Terminals provide for card payment; bank counters also offer the QR code for USD 36 in cash or the equivalent in EUR. Delays are possible.
